This course focuses on Hybrid and Electric Vehicle fundamentals with an emphasis placed on Hybrid/EV systems and components. An in-depth understanding of system and component operation builds the foundation to diagnose modern Hybrid/Electric vehicles. Lecture and Hands-on instruction provided.

• Digital Multi-Meter Selection

• Energy Storage (Battery packs)

• Electric Machine (Motor/Generator)

• Interlock Circuits

• Isolation detection and insulation faults

Hands-on Activities:

• Inspect and test PPE

• Safely de-power high voltage systems

• Scan-tool diagnostics

• Learn to perform:

  • Live-Dead-Live testing

  • Electric machine static testing

  • Electric machine dynamic testing

  • DC/DC Converter testing

  • Isolation fault testing
